According to the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9, giving is sacrificial. (v 8:3-5) They had to filter their money and make lifestyle adjustments. Giving is a regular lifestyle. (v 8:12) Paul spoke of a readiness and eagerness to give. Giving is done cheerfully. (v 9:7-8) They were glad to give to God first and they loved God the most. He loves a heart who is thrilled with the pleasure of giving.

You might ask what is an offering to God ? Your offering to God is not linked to what you earn, but is given freely by Believers. It might be in the form of clothes, food, money or volunteering - it’s whatever God prompts you to give.
An offering is your expression of thanks, praise or love for our God.
A tithe is different from an offering. Tithing shows that you’re being obedient to God and you expect nothing in return from God. It also helps us to steer away from being greedy or loving money too much, while encouraging us to be grateful and generous. Both of these gifts are used wisely by your church for programs such as youth activities, hospitality events, building upkeep, missions and outreach all are affected by the level of your generosity.

“A tithe of everything you produce belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”
